    Carrie Lanza
    Seattle, WA
I am a mom, social worker and doctoral student at University of Washington. My work both in my academic and personal life explores themes of embodiment, identity, and place and space via frameworks coming from community-based social work practice and research methodology, participatory digital media production, and critical pedagogies. Recent projects include piloting a media education program with the Indigenous Wellness Research Institute’s Native Youth Enrichment Program and the Seattle Fandango Project, which is dedicated to building relationships and social activism through participatory music and dance. I also teach social work history and am fascinated by the arc of the evolution of social work identity. The larger "container" for my dissertation work seeks to explore the digital dimensions of contemporary social work practice.
